The Plumpton Park Zoo is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) that operates twenty-four hours a day, every day to care for its animals. Our operating budget is critical for the care and maintenance of our wonderful animal collection. Admission and fees only cover 70% of this cost--the balance is provided by the generous support of individuals just like you.

People just like you make a difference every day, with donations large and small. Your gift to the Zoo will support animal care, education programs, and conservation efforts.

Volunteer PDF Print E-mail

The Plumpton Park Zoo has a long history of providing meaningful opportunities through volunteer service. Zoo volunteers are families, adults, youth and students, seniors, corporate and community groups, and more - people just like you!

Every year, many volunteers donate countless hours of time and effort to fulfill the zoo’s mission of education, conservation, and recreation. Volunteers help with everything "Zoo," from education and special events to horticulture and animal care. The zoo offers volunteer positions for people with all types of schedules and interests. If you like animals and people apply today!

In order to volunteer at the zoo, you'll need to attend a volunteer workshop. Our workshops are held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month at 9:45am at the zoo. When you arrive, you can head to the front gate and a staff memeber will direct you to the workshop. The workshop is free to attend, but does not include admission to the zoo.

At the workshop, you'll fill out some paperwork, learn about opportunities for volunteers, discuss volunteer and zoo rules, and schedule a day and time to come back and start your training as a zoo volunteer. The workshop doesn't take long, but it's an important first step.

Children under 18 years of age must have a parent present during the workshop to sign a liabity waiver. Volunteers between the ages of 10 and 15 must have a parent or guardian present when volunteering. Unfortunately, we do not have any volunteer opportunities avaiable for children under 10 years of age at this time.
