Plumpton Park Zoo began its existence in 1987 as a refuge for homeless, abandoned and abused animals. Today the Park has approximately 200 animals that call Plumpton Park home. We do not receive any funding from the County, State or Federal governments. We sustain these animals from the admission fees and donations. Plumpton Park is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit, charitable organization. We hope that you enjoy the zoo and thank you for your support. Plumpton Park Zoo is now taking applications for zookeeper. Johny Hayden II, Johny Hayden III, Ed Plumstead, zoo Director Boy Scout, Johny Hayden, plans Eagle Scout project for Zoo. Boy Scout, Johny Hayden III, age 14, is working towards his Eagle Scout Rank, which is the highest ranking in the Scouts. As his project to complete for this ranking, he picked Plumpton Park Zoo. The project consists of redoing the fencing on the north side of the giraffe exhibit and rebuilding the adjoining Poultry exhibits, which are in much need of attention. Johny had to complete a written proposal and submit it to the Chester County Scout Council and the local scout committee for approval. The project has received preliminary approvall and now he is at the fund-raising stage. Plumpton Park receives 2 four-month-old female arctic foxes, "Shiloh and Savannah".These foxes were born at a fur farm. Two animal loving individuals rescued them by purchasing them. Foxes do not make good pets and realizing this they contacted the zoo for placement. Plumpton Park had room for Shiloh and Savannah and was happy to add them to their family of animals. Plumpton Park was built on the concept of giving needy animals homes. You can help us here by volunteering in animal care or making a donation which goes to the care to the animals that call Plumpton Park home. |
